Cell Phone Policy
Wilkinson County Schools Revised Cell Phone Policy
Students are prohibited from using cell phones and other personal electronic communication devices during the instructional day. The instructional day begins when a student enters through any doorway in the morning and ends when a student exits the building in the afternoon.
- Any visible cell phone and/or other personal electronic communication device will be considered in use and will be subject to confiscation by school personnel.
- Any student who is found distracting the bus driver with his/her cell phone or communication device will be immediately referred to their school principal. No videotaping of any kind or sharing of communication devices will be allowed on the school bus, on or off school property.
- Students found violating this policy will have the cell phone or other personal electronic communication device confiscated and turned over to school administration. Parents/Guardians will be notified of the violation. According to the Student Code of Conduct, a parent/guardian must pick up all confiscated devices. Repeated violations of this policy will result in appropriate disciplinary action.
- A student requiring the use of an electronic communication device for health or other unusual reasons shall have on file in the principal's office and a statement from a licensed physician certifying that such a device is necessary for the health of the student.
- The Wilkinson County School District shall not assume responsibility or liability for the theft, loss or damage to a cell phone or other personal communication devices, nor does it assume responsibility for the unauthorized use of any device.
