Mack McCord new head football coach at Wilkinson County High School

Wilkinson County Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Coach Mack McCord as the new Head Football Coach at Wilkinson County High School.

Coach McCord brings a wealth of experience to the program, having coached multiple sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball, throughout his career in Georgia. Most recently, he served at Stone Mountain High School. His diverse coaching background reflects a strong commitment to student development, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

A U.S. Army veteran, Coach McCord earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science Pedagogy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is set to complete his master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Georgia this spring.

Originally from Trenton, Georgia, Coach McCord understands the importance of athletics in small communities and the role a strong football program plays in bringing people together. He is eager to build relationships with students, families, and the community while developing a program grounded in accountability and growth.

“I came here to not only win, but to build a program that the community can be proud of. I am here to stay. This is my home. Go Warriors!”

Coach McCord is passionate about working with young people and helping them succeed both on and off the field. His personal philosophy—“Be better, do better” and “keep moving forward”—guides his approach to coaching and leadership.

Outside of school, he enjoys fishing, golfing, and competing in Major League Fishing events.

Wilkinson County Schools looks forward to the leadership, experience, and energy Coach McCord will bring to the Warrior football program.
