Agriculture Sciences/FFA has been a fantastic addition to our CTAE program here at WCHS! This course gives students a break from their Chromebooks and desks and gets them into the dirt! They've enjoyed everything from making their own butter and Sprite using farm-to-table ingredients, planting 101 seeds to mark the 101st day of school, to doing projects on the anatomy of farm animals that included the function of the nervous system.
Who can forget the visit from an actual goat or the "Ag and Jazz" day, a day partnered with our concert band that cultivated minds and melodies! This month, they've explored the contributions of African Americans in Agriculture. Here are a few photos from our scholars in FFA!

Hands-on learning + problem-solving + perseverance = future engineers in the making!
After researching real-world engineering techniques, Mr. Knight's students documented their entire design process, created a mini mock-up, and used critical thinking to build a full-size cardboard chair strong enough to pass the ultimate test β P. Knight sitting on it for 5 minutes! π¦πͺ
Learning Target in action: "I am learning how engineers document their design process by researching, building, and testing a cardboard chair." Awesomeness, students!

Wilco STREAM Family Night is coming up!
Families of STREAM I & STREAM II students are invited to join us for an evening of hands-on learning and creativity. Together, youβll build, design, experiment, and problem-solve through interactive challenges that show how STREAM learning connects to real life.
This is a chance for students to lead the way while families explore right alongside them, learning, laughing, and creating together. We look forward to seeing our STREAM families there! ππ

Today in Mr. Knight's Engineering Concepts classes, students are learning how engineers document their design process by researching, building, and testing a cardboard chair. π¦ There's no final result just yet, but students have created mock-ups and prototypes using geometry and algebraic concepts to ensure quality, efficiency, and productivity. We can't wait to see the final product! Mr. Knight's Engineering and other courses are directly aligned with TSA, our CTAE organization, he advises.

Supply, demand, and responsibility. π Students in JROTC have set up a mini mart in the commons area! This experience teaches prior planning, teamwork, and overall financial decision-making. Students brainstorm as a team about budgeting, pricing, and financial responsibility, eventually deciding the best outcome of the team. With each sale, they become closer to their established goal.
This hands-on experience in real-world economics can be directly linked to "making students competent builders of a globally competitive future."

Step into King Louis XIVβs court at Versailles πβ¨
Today, students became nobles navigating the royal court, choosing which events to attend while the King skillfully distracted them. With a βmenuβ of court activitiesβeach costing time and influenceβstudents had to think strategically, make trade-offs, and experience firsthand how power, privilege, and politics shaped life at Versailles.
History came alive as our nobles learned that every choice at court had consequences.
